Overview
Walk SF promotes walking as a safe and sustainable form of transportation and seeks to improve San Francisco’s walking environment by educating residents, city agencies, and elected officials about the need for more pedestrian-friendly streets. During this grant period, Walk SF would focus on two primary campaigns: (1) a Pedestrian Action Plan to redesign the city’s streets to increase safety, increase walking, and favor sustainable and equitable transportation; and (2) Green Connections, by enabling residents of low-income areas to walk to open space along corridors that are safe and inviting, while providing much-needed environmental benefits.

Grants to this Grantee
for development of pedestrian safety policies
Walk SF promotes walking as a safe and sustainable form of transportation, and seeks to improve San Francisco’s walking environment by educating residents, city agencies, and elected officials about the need for more pedestrian-friendly streets. During this grant period, Walk SF would focus on three primary strategies: (1) Vision Zero to redesign particularly unsafe streets and intersections to increase pedestrian safety and promote walking; (2) Green Connections, which would enable residents of low-income areas to walk to open space along corridors that are safe and inviting; and (3) Safe Routes to Schools, which continues to work on reducing speed limits to fifteen miles per hour around 181 San Francisco schools.
for legal assistance on charitable status
Walk SF is requesting support to convert them from a 501(c)4 organization with a fiscally sponsored 501(c)3 project , to a 501(c)3 organization. This will simplify their financial management and administrative requirements, as well as reduce costs. At the same time, it will make it easier for other funders to support Walk SF
