POGO builds partnerships across the country to uplift these reforms to improve overall government effectiveness in a just and equitable manner. for support of training programs to improve the legislative oversight process
The Project on Government Oversight is "a nonpartisan independent watchdog that champions good government reforms." Founded in 1981, the project supports Congress, the executive branch, journalists, and others working for accountable and transparent government in the United States. This grant will support continuing revitalization of the project’s well-regarded bipartisan Congressional Oversight Training program, which educates congressional staff on how to help the members they are serving plan and carry out more effective oversight activities. The project seeks to bolster this critical function of Congress and in so doing redress the ideologically driven oversight that is both a symptom and increasingly a cause of political polarization.
