Overview
Namati is a global network of grassroots legal advocates working with local communities to understand, use, and shape the law in order to gain access to basic services and rights. Since its founding in 2012, Namati has built a global movement of community paralegals to advance justice in multiple sectors. Namati has trained and deployed over 400 community paralegals who have taken up over 40,000 justice issues with local communities and contributed to case wins that have directly improved the lives of at least 1.3 million people. Over the next two years, Namati will continue to pursue systemic change in six countries while growing the global Legal Empowerment Network advocacy influence. (Strategy: Inclusive Governance)

Namati is a global network of grassroots legal advocates who work with local communities to understand, use, and shape the law to gain access to basic services and rights. This grant will support Namati’s work in Mozambique, where they raise awareness of health policy and help people take action to address breakdowns in health care delivery; and in Kenya, where paralegals focus on the right to legal identity, a prerequisite for accessing many services, including health care and education.
