Overview
The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) brings together public institutions and private sector organizations, including civil society, to promote accountable and responsive governance in Ghana through research, capacity building, and advocacy. GACC seeks to empower and provide technical support for citizen groups to monitor the implementation of audit recommendations in public institutions. This grant will enhance transparency and accountability in governance by retrieving misappropriated public funds and strengthening public financial systems. The project will also monitor the implementation of assigned actions to strategic public institutions from the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan in order to reduce corruption, and advance transparency and accountability in governance. The project leverages civil society actors, including the media, to engage public institutions via the face-to-face approach and media platforms to demand and monitor implementation of their audit recommendations and commitments in terms of prevention and to fight against corruption. for implementation of the open contracting data standard in Ghana
The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition brings together public institutions and private sector organizations, including civil society, to promote accountable and responsive governance in Ghana through research, capacity building, and advocacy. This grant will enable the coalition to work closely with Ghana’s auditor general to enhance good public finance practices by tracking, reporting, and encouraging implementation of audit recommendations by local governments and other public institutions and promoting compliance with the requirements of the public officer asset declaration register. The coalition will also promote effective implementation of the provisions of Ghana’s National Anti-Corruption Action Plan, which was adopted in 2011 by the legislature. Through these two streams of work, the coalition seeks to enhance the integrity and public confidence in Ghana’s public finance management and reduce or eliminate public resource leakage.
