Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative

The Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI) is a professional network of senior budget officials that aims to promote efficient and effective management of public finances in Africa. A grant to the CABRI secretariat would support the network’s programs, including research and case studies of public financial management reform processes, sector-specific dialogues that engage government counterparts from education and health ministries to promote greater value for money in sector expenditures, the creation of a budget resources center, plus advisory services and peer-to-peer exchanges to reinforce reform efforts across Africa. At an international level, CABRI also plays a unique role in consolidating and representing African positions on behalf of its members to ensure that African perspectives are reflected in global norms and standard-setting processes.

The Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative is an intergovernmental organization that promotes effective and efficient public finance management in Africa. Through research and peer-learning among decision makers in ministries of finance and budget, the initiative helps to ensure that public financial management systems are robust, accountable, and responsive to the priorities of citizens. At the international level, the initiative represents African positions in norms and standard-setting processes.
