This grant will support Story at Scale, a research project of the Culture Change Collaborative Fund at the Women’s Foundation of California, that uses data to develop narratives around divisive social issues. This grant is one of several from multiple foundations to the Culture Change Collaborative Fund, which is supporting a strategy of using stories to advance gender and reproductive justice. It will be implemented nationally and in multiple states, including California, Michigan, and Georgia. The approach combines data science with narrative and cultural theory, practice, and strategy.

for the Culture Change Fund  
This grant is part of the Culture Change Collaborative, which aims to transform gender justice by changing how the public thinks about a range of interconnected issues, including abortion, contraception, maternal health, economic security, sexual assault, and gender justice. This grant will support culture and narrative change work in Michigan and Georgia, two states that have significant numbers of people who have nuanced views related to gender justice and where work to shift framing and views on a range of issues has the potential to make a meaningful impact. for support of the Women's Policy Institute's Environmental Health and Justice team  
The Women's Foundation of California runs a Women's Policy Institute that includes training of an environmental health and policy team. This year, all of the environmental health and policy team fellows are from the California Environmental Justice Alliance--a Hewlett Building Broad Support grantee. The Policy Institute will hold a year-long training program to meet the following objectives: -increase capacity of key leadership in the California environmental health and justice movement to be effective advocates in state legislative and regulatory policy processes -Increase awareness amongst policymakers of the environmental problems and solutions facing California's most vulnerable populations -strengthen the field of environmental health and justice and other allied movements
