Overview
“Sell/Buy/Date” is a hybrid documentary following Tony winning performer and comedian Sarah Jones. As a mixed-race Black woman in America, Sarah and the multicultural characters she’s known for explore her own personal relationship to one of the most relevant issues in our current cultural climate: the sex industry, and the surprisingly diverse range of people whose lives it touches. This project grant supports an impact campaign that will leverage “Sell/Buy/Date” as a tool with which to engage communities most impacted by the social justice issues raised in the film — most notably the power dynamics of race, gender justice, and capitalism as it intersects with the sex industry.

for support of a film on reproductive rights outreach activities
This grant to Women Makes Movies, Inc. will support continuation of a community screening campaign of the documentary film "Vessel" to raise public awareness about access to abortion globally. The film tells the story of Dr. Rebecca Gomperts, who charters a ship under the Dutch flag to provide abortion services in international waters to women living in countries in which abortion is highly restricted. "Vessel" exposes the realities women face in many diverse countries with similarly strict legal environments, and proposes medical abortion as a safe, private option for women with few legal alternatives.
