Women Deliver Inc.

This grant will support the Women Deliver Global Conference, which will be held in Copenhagen in May 2016. The Conference is anticipated to draw 6,000 participants from 150 countries, including decision makers, implementers, researchers, advocates, media, and the private sector. The focus of the Conference will be on how to implement the Sustainable Development Goals as they relate to women and girls, with a specific focus on maternal, sexual, and reproductive health and rights, and the connections with gender equality, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability.

Funds will support a global conference in 2013 to focus worldwide attention on the urgent need to achieve Millennium Development Goal 5—reducing the maternal mortality ratio by three–quarters—and on interim solutions to improve the health and well-being of women and girls. The conference is anticipated to draw 5,000 participants, including parliamentarians from around the world. The conference will help raise maternal health and sexual and reproductive health to the status of global priorities by increasing awareness of the sound investment in women and girls; increasing knowledge and skills of advocates; and giving decision makers opportunities to connect to and network with their peers and other influential audiences.
