The Wildlife Conservation Society Canada (WCS Canada) protects wildlife and wild places in Canada, leading field science, cutting-edge conservation research, knowledge sharing, and policy development to protect key landscapes and species across the country. Consistent with the Environment Program’s Western Conservation grantmaking strategy to advance new federal and local conservation measures in collaboration with communities, WCS Canada works with First Nations to advance land-use planning that would apply Indigenous knowledge and stewardship to lands and waters in the Yukon, northern British Columbia, Ontario, and other places in the Canadian boreal forest. The organization also uses policy tools such as Key Biodiversity Areas to protect critical wildlife habitat. (Substrategy: Advance Conservation Solutions)
