Overview
Shujaaz is a mass communications initiative to reach millions of youth across Kenya and Tanzania by linking story lines, characters, and social change messages across media platforms that include comic books, radio shows, text messages, and social media. Building on their 2015 research on youth attitudes toward Kenya’s governance and political decentralization process, this grant will support Shujaaz’s effort to deliver targeted content among segmented audiences to influence youth perceptions, conversations and engagement about government, active citizenship, and potential roles for youth.

Over the next two years, Shujaaz will sustain a national media campaign to encourage more youth participation in governance and more responsiveness from public officials to the needs and aspirations of young women.
