for support of the National Center for Innovation in Education  
The University of Kentucky’s National Center for Innovation in Education provides advice and support to states to make K-12 school systems more capable and accountable for preparing students to succeed in college, career, and life. The center will work on promoting a new learning agenda, helping education leaders improve, and using better assessments to demonstrate student achievement. In this moment of policy devolution, the U.S. school system will benefit from targeted work in the arenas of state and local reform for systemic innovation centered on a new learning agenda that is anchored in deeper learning outcomes.
for assisting four states in improving their assessment systems that support deeper learning  
The Center for Innovation in Education at the University of Kentucky helps states and districts solve policy and practice problems by building innovative systems that support better teaching and learning. This grant will fund the center’s work with California, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Virginia to facilitate broader, more informed, and effective use of performance assessment. Specifically, the center will work with these states and their partners to develop a network that will aid ongoing improvement and understanding of their assessment systems that support deeper learning.
