Overview
StoryCorps is a nonpartisan organization that has a mission to preserve and share humanity’s stories to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world. Their powerful stories illuminate our shared humanity, pass wisdom from one generation to the next, and leave a legacy for the future. This grant supports the launch of StoryCorps’ One Small Step, Washington, D.C., initiative. StoryCorps will invite members of Congress and their staff to participate in this project and pair members from opposing parties to have a facilitated, recorded conversation about their lives — not politics. The goals of this project are to illuminate the threat of toxic polarization in our nation’s capital and foster cross-partisan connection and conversation among our elected representatives.

StoryCorps’ mission is to help us believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all — one story at a time. This grant supports the Ibarguen Innovation Fund at StoryCorps. The fund will be used to fund advancements to existing digital properties (the StoryCorps App/Connect platforms, StoryCorps Archive, and StoryCorps website) as well as the creation of new technologies that increase access to StoryCorps' interview experience and content to millions of Americans nationwide.
