Overview
The South Africa Centre for Evidence (SACE) is a nonprofit organization that specializes in promoting evidence-informed policymaking across Africa. SACE works to support evidence capacities, evidence communities, and evidence synthesis for decision makers across Africa. This grant aims to develop and pilot a responsive evidence system for African policy needs. SACE will engage, coordinate, and enable the dedicated work of individuals and organizations across Africa to provide locally tailored and increasingly institutionalized responsive evidence services. The team will also build the capacity of evidence-informed policy practitioners and facilitate collaborations across national and regional contexts in Africa, and provide on-demand evidence syntheses that will support easy access for decision makers to usable information. This grant advances our evidence-informed policy field-building goals.

The Africa Centre for Evidence (ACE) is a new research organization with the mission of reducing poverty and inequality in Africa and South Africa through the use of evidence. With this grant, the team will synthesize and advance knowledge on using evidence to strengthen policy implementation, explore ways to measure the use of evidence in both policymaking and policy implementation, and assess how gender issues can be more effectively incorporated into evidence to policy efforts.
