Overview
Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the San Francisco Symphony annually presents more than 200 concerts and delivers extensive community and music education programs to 600,000 people. Nationally and internationally, the Symphony reaches another 2 million through touring, recording, and broadcasts on radio, television, and the internet. Building on the greater excellence attained during its Centennial Season, the Symphony is poised to conduct a feasibility study for capital renovations and the expansion of Davies Symphony Hall and to present a comprehensive portfolio of artistic, educational, and community programs that engage the third-largest live audience of any U.S. orchestra—and one of the most diverse.

San Francisco Symphony is dedicated to performing classical, modern, and contemporary music. Each year, the San Francisco Symphony offers 225 performances for more than 450,000 people through its mainstage concert season, community engagement programs, and national and international tours. More than 26,000 students are served by the symphony’s music education program, which reaches every first- through fifth-grade student in the San Francisco Unified School District. This grant to San Francisco Symphony supports the Performing Arts Program’s Continuity and Engagement strategy through the Traditional Works component.
