for supporting effective development and use of OER in higher education systems in Africa  
The South African Institute for Distance Education is a nonprofit organization committed to enabling successful open learning through initiatives such as OER Africa. The OER Africa project will support a collaboration with African higher education institutions and organizations to develop professional competences and skills in creating and using OER. This work will enable educators to implement OER to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
for OER Africa initiative  
OER Africa, an initiative of the South African Institute for Distance Education, plays a role in driving the development and use of OER in higher education systems in Africa. With this grant, OER Africa will conduct research on professional development needs in African higher education, as well as develop and test effective models of continuous professional development for supporting OER practices. OER Africa will share the knowledge it gains from these efforts and develop a plan for future expansion.
