for strategic planning to strengthen diverse viewpoints and improve equitable outcomes
for developing a platform to support collaborative creation and publication of OER
The Rebus Foundation is a Canadian nonprofit whose mission is to develop technologies and communities to promote publication of openly licensed web books and OER. This grant supports the development of the underlying infrastructure for a global, collaborative approach to publishing OER, focusing on specific partnerships to promote equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Key outcomes include designing a robust publishing platform; facilitating an open, inclusive approach to creating OER; implementing an effective infrastructure for open textbook projects at scale; and generating a sustainable model.
for building a platform to help faculty publish open textbooks
The Rebus Foundation is dedicated to building technology to support the availability of books in HTML format on the internet and increasing access to knowledge through open textbooks. The foundation will create a web-based system to simplify the open textbook publishing process, work to ensure that open textbooks are published in these accessible, standard formats, and build a community of open textbook creators. Better long-term infrastructure for OER and support for developing, adopting, and using open textbooks will help make higher education resources more effective and available at a lower cost.
