Overview
The Rebus Foundation is dedicated to building technology to support the availability of books in HTML format on the internet and increasing access to knowledge through open textbooks. The foundation will create a web-based system to simplify the open textbook publishing process, work to ensure that open textbooks are published in these accessible, standard formats, and build a community of open textbook creators. Better long-term infrastructure for OER and support for developing, adopting, and using open textbooks will help make higher education resources more effective and available at a lower cost.

Grants to this Grantee
for strategic planning to strengthen diverse viewpoints and improve equitable outcomes
The Rebus Community, the open education and professional development arm of the Rebus Foundation, supports institutions’ OER efforts through a year-long, cohort-based program called the Textbook Success Program, as well as other OER-focused professional development. With this organizational effectiveness grant, the Rebus Community will develop a strategic plan to examine how to increase their reach and impact, while staying centered around equitable approaches to support their programming and internal workflows. The strategic planning also will help the team reassess how Rebus fits into the current education landscape and ways in which they can structure their plans to increase the impact of the open education movement. (Substrategy: Sustainable Systems)
for general operating support
The Rebus Foundation is a global nonprofit working to make knowledge freely available in the pursuit of equity, understanding, and the common good. Through the Rebus Community, their open education and professional development arm, the organization seeks to build a movement of leaders leveraging OER to transform higher education.
