Planned Parenthood Mar Monte

For Support Of The Santa Clara County Opportunity Youth Partnership

Overview
The Philanthropy program applies three criteria for its Serving Bay Area Communities (SBAC) grants: (1) the work supports an innovative philanthropic model (2) the work had some potential to scale regionally and nationally; and (3) the work provides direct service to Bay Area communities. With this SBAC grant, we are providing matching funds to Kids in Common to support their implementation of collective impact initiatives in Santa Clara county as part of the Aspen Institute’s Opportunity Youth Incentive Fund (OYIF). These initiatives seek to reconnect disconnected youth (opportunity youth) with education and employment, and Kids in Common is serving as the backbone organization in Santa Clara county for this work..

Grants to this Grantee
for support of the Santa Clara County Opportunity Youth Partnership
This grant will support the Santa Clara County Opportunity Youth Partnership and its goal to reduce by half the number of disengaged youths in Santa Clara County by 2029. The partnership between the Santa Clara County Office of Education, United Way Bay Area, and Kids in Common (a program of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte) exists to weave education, workforce development, and support services into a widely accessible reengagement system for youths. Through the partnership, a desired goal by 2021 is to build a physical Opportunity Center that will provide services and tools for youths and young adults to go back to school.
