for a project to develop and expand the School of Data
The Open Knowledge Foundation is dedicated to promoting the creation of open-source technologies, government open-data portals, and encouraging stakeholders to make use of government data to improve citizen demands on government performance. This grant is for the School of Data, an online course to train non-experts in accessing, analyzing, and using data. This project will support a mentorship program to guide participants through the course, an assessment and accreditation program, and anchor the initiative with partner organizations in Mexico, Africa, and Latin America. The grant also will support the translation of course materials into Spanish and other languages.
for a project to support the Global Open Data Index
The Open Knowledge Foundation promotes open-source technologies and government open-data portals, and encourages stakeholders to use government data to increase the ability of citizens to make informed demands on government. This grant will support the Global Open Data Index to enable civil society organizations that use open data to improve community monitoring, advocacy, and journalism. Support will also be provided to strengthen the global network of Open Knowledge Communities.
