Overview
Open Knowledge Foundation partners with civil society organizations to take action on social problems through the use of data and monitoring. This grant will support the organizational priorities of the Open Knowledge Foundation during the grant period, including OpenSpending, a global network of actors and tools to monitor government budgeting and spending, and Open Data for Tax Justice, a global network of actors using open data to improve advocacy, journalism, and public policy around tax justice.

for a project to support the Global Open Data Index  
The Open Knowledge Foundation promotes open-source technologies and government open-data portals, and encourages stakeholders to use government data to increase the ability of citizens to make informed demands on government. This grant will support the Global Open Data Index to enable civil society organizations that use open data to improve community monitoring, advocacy, and journalism. Support will also be provided to strengthen the global network of Open Knowledge Communities.
for a project to support the School of Data and OpenSpending initiatives  
The Open Knowledge Foundation promotes open-source technologies and government open-data portals, and encourages stakeholders to use government data to increase the ability of citizens to make informed demands on government. This grant would strengthen their School of Data program, which provides basic technology training to a broad audience. Support would also be provided to the OpenSpending project, a one-stop shop for budget information for many countries.
