Grants to this Grantee
for the preparatory phase of a civil society initiative to assess student learning in Mali
We recommend a grant to Œuvre Malienne d’Aide à l’Enfance du Sahel (OMAES) to plan and develop a civil society-led approach to evaluating learning and communicating the results in Mali. Drawing on successful QEDC-supported experiences in India (ASER) and Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania (Uwezo), OMAES will develop sampling methods and simple tests, train volunteers and pilot the approach in a limited area during the timeframe of the grant. The proposed grant is expected to greatly expand citizen understanding of learning levels in Mali and accelerate improvements in the education system.
