Overview
Tech Congress, a program at New America Foundation, places computer scientists, engineers, and other technologists in Congressional offices through its one-year Congressional Innovation Fellowship. Fellows’ work spans issues such as election security, data privacy, artificial intelligence ethics, the future of work, defense technology, and regulations for autonomous vehicle and drones. TechCongress’s ultimate objective is to galvanize Capitol Hill to independently hire staff with technical skills, and to build its own internal mechanisms for sourcing technical expertise. TechCongress will have achieved success when Congress is solving its own tech deficit and TechCongress is no longer necessary.

for bridging open education and equity in pre-K-12 learning and teaching
New America is a nonpartisan think tank dedicated to renewing, reimagining, and realizing the promise of America in an era of rapid technological and social change. New America’s Education Policy program builds on existing efforts to elevate the importance of equity and inclusion and the role of high-quality open educational resources and practices in ensuring academic excellence and well-being for all students. This will be accomplished through research and policy analysis, case making, community building, and the development of open tools and prototypes that can be piloted in districts and communities.
