Overview
This supplemental grant will support MannionDaniels, in partnership with the African Women’s Development Fund and Global Fund for Women, to deepen and grow AmplifyChange’s learning and research platforms to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), primarily in Africa and South Asia. In addition to a separate grant for AmplifyChange fund management, this support will allow the fund to provide enhanced capacity strengthening and learning opportunities for grantees, as well as bolster SRHR advocacy networks. AmplifyChange grantees’ advocacy includes access to safe abortion and SRHR information and services for young people.

This grant will allow MannionDaniels, in partnership with the African Women’s Development Fund and Global Fund for Women, to manage the AmplifyChange fund that is dedicated to support civil society advocacy on sexual and reproductive health and rights, primarily in Africa and South Asia. Through an inclusive and collaborative grantmaking approach, AmplifyChange provides grants and capacity-strengthening to local civil society organizations to advocate for the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women, the LGBTI community, and young people. Through pooled funding, AmplifyChange is supported by nine bilateral agencies, foundations, and private philanthropy initiatives.

for support to manage the Civil Society Fund for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights  
With this grant, the Hewlett Foundation proposes to contribute funds for operational costs of Fund Afya, a fund dedicated to supporting civil society organizations in developing countries to advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and young people. MannionDaniels will lead a consortium of three organizations to manage the Fund. The Fund, set to launch in September 2014 at the United Nations General Assembly, has commitments from several European bilateral donors and private foundations to support an initial budget of 17 million Euros over two years. The Fund will pay particular attention to neglected but pressing issues such as safe abortion, adolescent reproductive health, and gender-based violence.
