For Planning Activities To Establish A Center For Data Technology

Overview
The grant to Makerere University will support a planning phase for a center for data technology that will contribute to solving prevailing social and economic development problems on the African continent through the use of data. The planning process will draw on the technical expertise and project experience of leadership and scholars from Makerere University’s current Artificial Intelligence lab, broad outreach with policy stakeholders and potential partners, as well as support from a set of consultants to facilitate planning from both a strategic and operational perspective.

for support of the Impact Evaluation for Evidence Based Decisions project  
Makerere University is a public Ugandan university engaged in teaching, research, and community outreach. This grant will support scholars from the School of Public Health and the School of Statistics and Planning to continue to implement an initiative called Impact Evaluation for Evidence Based Decisions. Their goal is to work with policymakers in the sectors of health, education, and agriculture to strengthen the use of impact evaluation in policy decisions and program implementation. for support of a rapid response policy research center  
This grant supports the Africa Centre for Systematic Reviews and Knowledge Translation at Makerere University. The center provides rapid response services, synthesizing research quickly enough that policymakers can consider this information when making time-sensitive decisions. With this grant, the center’s team will start working with additional government agencies in Uganda. They will also provide training and mentoring to other researcher centers that produce rapid response policy briefs.
