Learning Equality

Learning Equality develops software tools for sharing and creating openly licensed educational content and partners with governments to build capacity for effective implementation of OER. By utilizing a combination of low-cost, low-power equipment and OER, the organization increases access to educational content for communities that have limited-bandwidth, expensive, or unreliable internet connections. The tools and platform allow teachers to adapt and author their own content and promote greater linguistic and cultural diversity of OER content more generally. The Foundation for Learning Equality (FLE) is dedicated to developing software tools for the sharing and creation of openly-licensed educational content for use by anyone around the world. By utilizing a combination of low-cost, low-power equipment and Khan Academy videos, FLE aims to increase access to OER for communities that have limited-bandwidth, expensive, or unreliable Internet connections. Funding will support language translations, software development, and technical support for pilot program participants. Although other efforts have also aimed to increase access to online content, this initiative aims to do so at a lower cost of $100 per school, with integrated support for teacher and student participation.
