Overview
The Inter African Network for Women, Media, Gender and Development (FAMEDEV) is a regional women’s organization focused on media and communication based in Dakar, Senegal, but essentially covering the west and central African regions. FAMEDEV aims at building a democratic communication space that facilitates the promotion of human rights, democratic governance, and the strengthening of gender and social justice in Africa. It works to promote the rights of African women by using the media, networking, training, capacity building, access to resources and — on an equal basis with men — defining and shaping the policies, structures, and decisions that affect their lives and society as a whole. This grant will allow FAMEDEV, working closely with community radios, theater groups, and traditional communicators, to disseminate and popularize existing gender equity and inclusion frameworks within grassroots populations and develop strategies for their effective implementation in Senegal. (Strategy: Inclusive Governance)
