Overview
Kuumbwa Jazz Society annually presents more than 130 performances at its intimate Kuumbwa Jazz Center, as well as limited engagements at the Rio Theater and Civic Auditorium in Santa Cruz. Kuumbwa draws more than 19,000 annual patrons to its performances, which feature international superstars and national headliners, as well as local and emerging talent. In addition to its performance series, Kuumbwa offers a suite of youth and adult education programs, including the Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band, master classes, and a summer jazz camp. With renewed support, Kuumbwa plans to make steady progress to expand revenue, increase program attendance, and strengthen staff and board capacity.

Each year, Kuumbwa Jazz presents over 140 performances and events for over 10,000 people. In addition, the organization offers age-appropriate jazz education to more than 550 schoolchildren, a summer jazz camp that serves approximately 60 youth musicians, and intensive jazz education, master classes, and community engagement opportunities for people of all ages. Support for Kuumbwa Jazz advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.
