Overview
Osmosis takes an open educational pedagogy approach by creating freely available health education videos and disseminating them to a global audience, and partnering with WikiProject Medicine and UCSF School of Medicine to offer credit-bearing electives to students who create open educational resources as part of their degree programs. Osmosis will expand these efforts by improving the 300 highest priority health topics on Wikipedia, thereby advancing the Education Program’s strategic goal of facilitating mainstream adoption of OER, while simultaneously promoting deep, competency-based learning among students and offering people around the world a rich learning experience about the most common and serious health afflictions.

Osmosis produces high-quality OER in medical and heath-related fields and disseminates these to a global audience. In collaboration with WikiProject Medicine and the UCSF-UCB Joint Masters Program, Osmosis will undertake a 12-month pilot project to help medical school faculty and students integrate OER into their curriculum through a scalable approach combining technology and credit-bearing electives. This work advances the Education Program’s strategic goal of encouraging the mainstream adoption of OER while simultaneously promoting open educational practice among students and faculty.
