Overview
Kaisahan Dance Company of San Jose is the longest running and largest Filipino performing arts organization in the region reaching more than 8,000 people annually. The core programs include self-produced mainstage performances, touring, and master classes. The group endeavors to promote and preserve Filipino art and culture through the development, performance and presentation of traditional and authentic Filipino dances, as well as the development of contemporary work. A first time grant would provide support for the organization as it expands and strengthens its Artist in Schools program and builds a firm foundation for the next thirty years.

Kaisahan of San Jose promotes and preserves Filipino culture by providing instruction and performances of folk dance and music. The longest running Filipino performing arts organization in the Bay Area, the organization offers public performances of contemporary and traditional work, master classes, a dance ensemble, community classes, and public school residency programs. Each year, it reaches more than 15,000 people, including 500 students. This grant to Kaisahan of San Jose supports the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.

Its work spans contemporary and traditional practices that promote and preserve Filipino art and culture. The organization’s main activities are public performances, master classes, and community classes led by a core dance ensemble. In addition, Kaisahan offers public school residency programs that reach 500 K-12 students each year. Support for Kaisahan of San Jose advances the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.
