International Labour Organization

For Exploring The Links Between Care And Women’s Economic Empowerment

Overview
The International Labour Organization (ILO) proposes to conduct qualitative and quantitative research on the relationship of child care to women workers’ rights and empowerment, workplace productivity, and economic growth. The ILO seeks to foster an evidence-based policy dialogue on this subject at global and regional levels, hold meetings to highlight dimensions of the care-economic empowerment links for different audiences, and produce and disseminate high-level reports. This work will improve the gender analysis and evidence for the 2015 International Labour Conference, which is expected to generate a new recommendation regarding the transition from informal to formal employment.
