Overview
The Global Subsidies Initiative of the Institute for Sustainable Development is designed to put the spotlight on subsidies to fossil fuels and the harmful effects they can have on environmental quality, economic development and governance. The specific goal of this project grant is to produce a methodology and initial robust estimates of how much carbon is being unlocked by an specific type of subsidies, producer subsidies, in key countries. Most studies to date concentrate in consumer subsidies.The results will be shared widely with the community of advocates for the reduction and reform of fossil fuel subsidies.
