Women, Business and the Law (WBL) systematically documents legal and regulatory barriers to women’s economic empowerment around the world. This project seeks to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in sub-Saharan Africa to understand and apply information from WBL to advocate for gender equality reforms.

This project seeks to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in East and West Africa to understand and apply information from the Women, Business and the Law initiative, which systematically documents legal and regulatory barriers to women’s economic empowerment around the world. Produced by the International Finance Corporation, the initiative’s data are used by international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund for their research on women’s economic opportunities and through regional bodies to inform policy discussions. The objective of this project is to better disseminate the initiative’s findings at the country level by working in partnership with advocacy organizations to amplify core messages about gender equality reforms, and to increase the capacity of civil society organizations to advocate for policy reform based on economic data and evidence.
