for civic education field building
The Institute for Citizens & Scholars cultivates talent, ideas, and networks that develop effective, lifelong citizens. Its mission is to ensure that Americans are well informed and productively engaged in and hopeful about our democracy. Part of the institute’s work on effective “citizen development†engages our public education system, its stakeholders, and community partners. Currently we support the institute’s efforts to build trusting partnerships across the civics field, develop a communications approach, and define a research agenda. The process of mounting these initiatives has been slower and harder than anticipated. This grant speeds up the development process by supporting additional staff capacity.
