Overview
The first rounds of Hope Consulting's "Money for Good" research have been widely acclaimed, with citations in The Economist, Fast Company, and other top magazines. The first study sought to understand general U.S. donor preferences, behaviors, and demand for charitable giving opportunities. A follow-up study offered insights into foundation and advisor behavior. This round goes to the next level by examining strategies that will allow the philanthropic sector to drive more dollars to high-performing nonprofits. This grant is for planning a round of live-market tests. These market tests will rely on the partnership of platforms like Network for Good or the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, and will require a significant investment of time to coordinate staff, timelines, interests, and goals. If successful, this research will help Guidestar (and other key organizations) develop products that help donors identify high-performing nonprofits.
