Overview
The Great Lakes Institute for Strategic Studies (GLISS) is a research and advocacy think tank based in Kampala, Uganda. The institute promotes social justice policies in the Great Lakes region of Africa through research, advocacy, capacity building, and civic engagement. This grant will enable GLISS to promote regional and national policies that are responsive to the needs of communities impacted by the extractives industry across three East African countries: Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Through a combination of research, use of data and tailored training courses, the East Africa Extractives Barometer Report project seeks to inform the development of social justice policies and decisions that put communities, and especially women and youth, at the center of policy and decision making in the development of extractives in East Africa. (Strategy: Inclusive Governance).
