Overview
Global Witness investigates, exposes, and challenges corruption in natural resource-rich countries. Global Witness seeks to ensure that revenue from natural resources drives peaceful and sustainable development in the world’s resource-rich but development-poor countries. With this grant, Global Witness will work with the media, the Publish What You Pay coalition, and other civil society organizations to investigate and expose corrupt practices in the extractives sector. Global Witness will mount campaigns against secrecy in the international financial system, focusing on the problems of hidden company ownership, tax evasion, and money laundering.
