Funders for Reproductive Equity

For General Operating Support

Overview
The Funders Network on Population, Reproductive Health and Rights has been a Hewlett Foundation grantee for fifteen years. Through annual meetings and briefings, the Network helps funders understand the field and policy context so they can make the most strategic grantmaking decisions in service of the Network’s goal: that all people have access to the information and services needed to manage their own fertility and protect their sexual and reproductive health. PATH (Seattle, WA) – Program; Renewal; $1,250,000 over 3 years; 3% of program budget For PATH’s Reproductive Health Global Program PATH’s Reproductive Health Global Program works in more than seventy low-income countries to support better reproductive health services for women, men, and youth. This grant would fund three of the Reproductive Health Global Program’s priority activities: developing plans for an on-demand oral contraceptive, introducing a new injectable contraceptive technology called Sayana Press, and assessing the costs to the health system of restrictive abortion policies. The first two activities reflect the Global Development and Population Program’s stronger emphasis on fostering specific improvements in access to and quality of family planning services; the third reflects the Program’s interest in increasing access to safe abortion services by providing better data about abortion for policymakers.

(Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
for general operating support
This grant supports the Funders for Reproductive Equity to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ) within philanthropy, centering racial and gender justice. A community of funders focused on SRHRJ in the U.S. and globally, it organizes annual member conferences, curates, and disseminates relevant information on the SRHRJ landscape, and offers meaningful learning opportunities and platforms to build strategic collaborative partnerships. The organization aims to deepen understanding of the intrinsic links between threats to SRHRJ and the backsliding of democracy so that funders can expand cross-movement grantmaking efforts. (Strategy: Global Reproductive Equity)
