Grants to this Grantee
for support of democratic governance and feminist civil society organizations in Burkina Faso
Diakonia is the joint international development organization of two Swedish churches. Its overall goal is to change the unjust political, economic, social, and cultural structures that generate poverty, inequality, oppression, and violence. Diakonia works with the most vulnerable people, local partners, and other strategic actors for the realization of the right of all to live in dignity, regardless of age, class, disability, ethnicity, gender, nationality, political belief, or religion. This grant will allow Diakonia, which has been a key player in promoting good governance, citizen participation, and democracy in Burkina Faso, to leverage its role as a catalyst for civil society action synergies, for active and responsible citizen participation, as well as for the strategic strengthening and positioning of feminist and youth movements in the country. (Strategy: Inclusive Governance)
