Development Initiatives Poverty Research America

Development Initiatives works closely with partner governments, international institutions, and civil society organizations to ensure that data-driven evidence and analysis are used effectively in policy and practice to end poverty, reduce inequality, and increase resilience. The organization works with local partners in Kenya, Uganda, and Nepal to inform policy and practice, change mindsets, and influence debate at the global, regional, and national level in order to ensure that decisions about the allocation of public resources are informed by data on poverty incidence. In addition to direct advocacy through local partners, it helps watchdog groups to access and understand this data so they can advocate for better resource allocation. Development Initiatives also strengthens feedback loops between national development priorities and international commitments. (Strategy: Transparency, Participation, and Accountability)

This is a supplemental grant to Development Initiatives (DI), which seeks to advance the global poverty reduction agenda through the provision of high-quality data on poverty and public resource allocation. DI works with local partners in Kenya, Uganda, and Nepal to ensure that decisions about public resource allocation focuses on reducing extreme poverty. In addition to direct advocacy through local partners, DI helps watchdog groups to access and understand this data so they can advocate for better resource allocation.
