Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Founded in 1989, the Center for Public Integrity is one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonpartisan, nonprofit investigative news organizations. The Center’s mission is to enhance democracy by revealing abuses of power, corruption, and betrayal of trust by powerful public and private institutions, using the tools of investigative journalism. In 2014, the Center was awarded its first Pulitzer Prize. This grant for general operating support, Special Projects’ second to the Center, would allow it to continue its investigations of issues including money in politics, national security, and environmental justice, among others.
for national security reporting
This renewal grant to the Center for Public Integrity would enable it to continue producing investigative articles on nuclear security for both decision makers and the general public. The Center would also seek to interest young journalists in reporting about nuclear security issues. Since 2011, the Center has provided coverage of nonproliferation and of spending on nuclear programs to major news outlets such as The Atlantic, NBC, the McClatchy newspaper chain, Digital First Media, Foreign Policy, and Mother Jones.
