The mission of the Center for Black Educator Development is to ensure that there will be equity in the recruitment, training, hiring, and retention of high-quality educators who reflect the cultural background and share the sociopolitical interests of the students they serve. The center seeks to accomplish this by recruiting talented men and women to advance social and racial justice by pursuing a career in education; helping all educators excel by developing the skills, will, and mindset to master teaching that breaks cycles of social oppression; and developing curricula, materials, and instruction sourced in perspectives on student learning historically prevalent in the African American community and culture. This is a general operating support grant. (Substrategy: Educator Capacity)
