For Support Of Into Women’s Hands: Misoprostol And The Politics Of Reproduction In Burkina Faso And Senegal

Overview
This grant will support the Into Women's Hands project to generate and foster the use of qualitative evidence to reduce unsafe abortion and maternal mortality in Burkina Faso and Senegal. Applying a feminist reproductive justice lens, Brandeis University, in partnership with Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo and Université Cheikh Anta Diop, will assess the availability, distribution, and use of misoprostol for approved and off-label obstetric indications in formal and informal health sectors in the two countries. The team will strengthen the capacity and build a pipeline of African scholars to conduct qualitative research to influence policy and practice. (Strategy: Global Reproductive Equity)

Applying a reproductive justice lens, Brandeis University, in partnership with Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo and Université Cheikh Anta Diop, will conduct qualitative, collaborative, and women-centered research on the use of Misoprostol for obstetric indications in formal and informal health sectors. The team will strengthen the capacity and build a pipeline of African scholars to conduct qualitative research that can be used by policymakers, health professionals, and activists to improve reproductive and obstetric care.
