for advancing evidence on the efficacy of OER
The American Association of Colleges and Universities is the leading national association dedicated to making quality and equity the foundations for excellence in undergraduate education. With this grant, the association will undertake a two-year research project examining 18 institutions representing a wide range of institution types with high levels of OER adoption to discern how OER influences key student success outcomes, including end-of-course grades and DFW (D, F, and withdrawal letter grades) rates. This project aligns with the association’s core mission of promoting innovative and equitable practices for higher education in service to students and their success. The American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) is the leading national association dedicated to making quality and equity the foundations for excellence in undergraduate education. With this grant, AAC&U will conduct research that advances knowledge about the role of OER in influencing key student success metrics beyond cost savings and affordability. AAC&U will examine the challenges institutions have encountered through their engagement in OER work, including perceived gaps in the literature, and they will synthesize existing research on the impact of OER and open learning pedagogical practices on student success outcomes.
