Overview
The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) provides leadership and informs public policy on American Indian and Alaska Native higher education issues. With this grant, AIHEC will engage faculty and students at all 37 tribal colleges and universities as members of the Open Education Network and as developers of content. Faculty and students will create materials that contextualize and indigenize course topics by incorporating local cultural knowledge and perspectives, and develop a repository of openly accessible Indigenous learning materials using a range of digital media. Research conducted as part of this effort will focus on how students participate in course development. (Substrategy: Sustainable Systems)

The American Indian Higher Education Consortium provides leadership and informs public policy on American Indian and Alaska Native higher education issues. With this grant, it will engage faculty and students at all 35 Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) in the open education movement, facilitated through their participation in the Open Education Network. This initiative seeks to bridge existing digital and educational gaps by creating opportunities for TCUs to create and implement high-quality, locally sourced educational content. The project involves a comprehensive two-year plan that includes workshops, capacity-building programs, and resource development, focusing on culturally responsive education that honors Indigenous communities’ rich traditions and histories.
