The Alliance for Excellent Education plans to offer support and coordination to all deeper learning grantees, key partners, and stakeholder organizations. Its work will generate coherence and momentum to advance deeper learning policies. Efforts will include analyzing possible target states, coordinating current grantees, identifying potential partners, developing policy options, and informing nonlobbying advocacy efforts with ongoing strategic advice.

This grant would enable the Alliance for Excellent Education to promote nationwide policy reforms that support deeper learning through implementation of the Common Core standards and beyond. The Alliance plans to strengthen public will for reform by disseminating proof points and to broaden and fortify the reform community with information and coordination of civil rights and equity, business, and educator organizations.
for outreach and research on U.S. results on the 2012 Programme for International Student Assessment
The Alliance for Excellent Education (AEE) is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit policy and advocacy organization that works to improve national and federal policy so that all students can achieve at high academic levels and graduate from high school ready for success in college, work, and citizenship. This grant will support AEE to coordinate the announcement of U.S. scores on the 2012 PISA assessment by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Secretary- General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as well as support a series of AEE-organized events and research addressing what the PISA results mean for the United States. This "PISA Day" on December 3, 2013 and related preparatory and follow-up events will help concentrate the attention of policymakers and education reformers on the important role that high-quality assessments play to advance the Common Core State Standards and Deeper Learning outcomes—assessment of knowledge and skills for at least 15% of U.S. schoolchildren is a key strategic goal of Hewlett’s Deeper Learning initiative.
