Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE) conducts independent research and analysis of public expenditures in Uganda and advocates for more evidence-based public policies. Through their new Center for Budget and Economic Governance, ACODE will build citizens’ capacity to use data to demand accountability in service delivery and will enhance central and local governments’ capacity to respond to citizens’ demands for accountability. To advance their learning agenda around fostering public service delivery that is more responsive to citizen feedback, ACODE will also experiment with innovative approaches to foster greater government accountability.

Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE) conducts independent research and analysis of public spending in Uganda, advocates for evidence-based public policies, and builds citizens’ capacity to use data to demand accountability and improved services from government. During this grant period, ACODE will pursue its strategic plan, which includes strengthening public finance management and increasing economic opportunities for women, men, and youth; improving governance and sustainable utilization of environment and natural resources; and strengthening ACODE’s institutional capacity to harness science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development in Uganda.
