Independent Television Service (ITVS) funds, presents, and promotes award-winning documentaries and dramas on public television and cable, innovative new media projects on the web, and the Emmy Award-winning weekly series Independent Lens. Films supported by ITVS tackle complex issues and express points of view seldom explored in the mass media, enriching the cultural landscape with the voices and visions of underrepresented communities, reflecting the interests and concerns of a diverse society. A grant to ITVS will support its operational capacities, strengthen its recruitment ability, and increase the number of filmmakers of color and women through its Diversity Development Fund.

Grants to this Grantee
for an executive search
Independent Television Service (ITVS) brings independently produced, high-quality public broadcast and new media programs to local, national, and international audiences. The independent producers who create ITVS programs take creative risks, tackle complex issues, and express points of view seldom explored in the mass media. ITVS programs enrich the cultural landscape with the voices and visions of underrepresented communities and reflect the interests and concerns of a diverse society. This grant will support an independent executive search process to recruit and hire the next president and CEO of ITVS, who can guide the organization through the challenges posed by a transforming landscape for media, civil society, and the public interest. With a strong outside partner supporting the leadership search, the ITVS board will be positioned to find a new leader who can balance the interests of independent filmmakers, public television, and the public and help this important organization continue to serve as a champion of independent voices within the public media ecosystem.
