For General Operating Support

Overview
Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO) works to improve the status of the working poor in the informal economy. WIEGO is a global research and policy network comprised of more than 30 membership-based organizations of informal workers and about 150 development professionals. WIEGO seeks to increase the voice of the working poor by supporting and strengthening membership-based organizations to gain representation in policymaking bodies. It advances the visibility of informal employment and economy by conducting policy-relevant research and improving official statistics. It also promotes recognition of informal workers as legitimate economic agents.
