The White Ribbon Alliance is a global network of advocacy organizations that works together to promote women's reproductive health and rights and safe maternal and newborn care. It has a global secretariat based in Washington, DC and 15 country chapters. With this organizational effectiveness grant, the White Ribbon Alliance will develop its first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy, lay the groundwork for increasing the diversity of the global secretariat's board of directors, the alliance council and country chapter leaders, and create talent management programs to better support the needs of its staff.

White Ribbon Alliance is a global alliance of civil society organizations and activists working together to improve policies, programs, and the resources that are available for reproductive, maternal, and newborn health and rights. Its global secretariat in Washington, D.C., connects the organization with social movements and supports capacity building of member national alliances, which are independently governed and led. This grant will support the White Ribbon Alliance and members in Kenya and Uganda to educate communities, create citizen oversight mechanisms, and conduct advocacy campaigns to ensure that universal health coverage and other government health policies for vulnerable people are implemented well. The White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) is a global network of advocacy organizations that works together to promote women’s reproductive health and rights and safe maternal and newborn care. It has a global secretariat based in Washington, DC and 15 country chapters. This organizational effectiveness grant will support White Ribbon Alliance in the implementation of the outstanding pieces of its 2021-2022 Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Action Plan and ensuring a smooth executive transition with the current CEO stepping down in October 2021.
