US Friends of the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute

For Support Of The Individual, Society, And Economy Project

Overview
The US Friends of the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute supports the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute’s mission to foster innovative interdisciplinary research in the humanities and social sciences, and develop new methods of addressing questions of global concern. This grant supports a research project that aims to produce a position paper of preliminary ideas and policies for a feasible alternative to both neoliberalism and forms of populism that threaten democracy. The position paper will be discussed and fine-tuned by academics and civil society agents in an international workshop. The project will provide a basis for further international cooperation in developing concrete post-neoliberal policies and democratic reforms that are effective and politically viable alternatives to the combination of neo-liberalism and populism.
